ESF

  European Social Fund explained
Helping to develop employment 
by promoting employability, the business spirit, equal opportunities and investing in human resources. The ESF is an important source of funding for activities to develop employability and human resources. 

Added value policies 
introduced to make a reality the Government's objective - to promote employment opportunities for all in an inclusive society. 

The ESF will support five key activities between 2000 and 2006:

  • Active labour market policies
  • Equal opportunities for all and promoting social inclusions

Eropean Union Flag

  • Improving training, education and promoting lifelong learning

  • Adaptability and entrepreneurship

  • Improving the participation 
    of women in the labour market

  The Objective 1 initiative is to raise prosperity for all
 

Its aim is for GDP per head to rise towards the Welsh, UK and EU averages. 

The objective gives rise to 3 principle targets 

Growth in GDP per head
Employment Growth
Increased Economic Activity

Objective 1 areas currently have a deficit in suitably trained ICT advisers.

 

One key component 
is increased access to a broad range of skills.
Seeking to provide 
extensive support, encouraging the adoption of ICT and e-commerce throughout the region.
